- In 2 quart pan, over medium heat, melt butter.
- Pour in half and half.
- Add Salt & Pepper. Do not bring to a boil.
- Add mayonnaise and stir until mostly dissolved.
- Add potato flakes and stir. Reduce heat.
- Continue stirring until mixture is smooth. If mixture is too thick, add more half and half a tablespoon at a time. Continue stirring.
- When you have the right consistency, taste and add butter, salt and pepper as needed.
- Add the optional sour cream.
